The director of Tamil blockbuster Soorarai Pottru, Sudha Kongara Prasad, has said the Hindi version of the biopic with Akshay Kumar in the lead is in early stages of planning. She shot to worldwide fame with the movie, which is based on the life of GR Gopinath, the aviation pilot who dreamt of making air travel affordable to the common man.
Speaking exclusively to writer Kongara Prasad, whose earlier directorial credits include that very fine pugilist film Sala Khadoos with Madhavan, said, “It is all discussion stage only. Only the producers are on board officially. I need to start writing the Hindi version.”
Did Sudha ever imagine such a global impact for Soorarai Pottru? “It’s all in God’s hands. I remember when it went to the OTT platform I wasn’t very happy. I wondered why it should go there. Then I saw the love it got and its massive reach, and I decided to shut up and let HIM do the rest.”
Meanwhile, Guneet Mongia, one of the producers of Soorarai Pottru, has apparently obtained a stay order from the Madras High Court against Suriya for selling the Hindi rights to Vikram Malhotra of Abundantia Films without her consent. This could delay the Hindi version of the movie.
