Sonu Sood has broken his silence after the Income Tax officials raided his properties. The Central Board of Direct Taxes alleged that the actor and his associates had evaded a tax of Rs 20 crore. Reacting to allegations, Sonu has now issued a statement on Twitter, saying that ‘every rupee from his foundation’ will be used for the needy. He also mentioned that time will tell his side of the story.

The actor added that he would continue helping people through his foundation. His statement read, “You don't always have to tell your side of the story. Time will. I have pledged myself to the service of the people of India with all my strength and heart. Every rupee in my foundation is awaiting its turn to save a precious life and reach the needy. In addition, on many occasions, I have encouraged brands to donate my endorsement fees for humanitarian causes too, which keeps us going. I have been busy attending to a few guests hence was unable to be at your service, for the last 4 days. Here I am back again in all humility. At your humble service, for live. My journey continues. Jai Hind.”

Sonu’s statement was captioned as, “सख्त राहों में भी आसान सफर लगता है, हर हिंदुस्तानी की दुआओं का असर लगता है” (Even in tough roads, it seems easy journey, every Indian's prayers seem to have an effect.)

As per Etimes report, Sonu Sood was accused of violating the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act while raising donations from abroad. The I-T department also stated that the actor had collected Rs 19 crore through his charity foundation but used only Rs 2 crore out of the fund.

The I-T department recently conducted a search and seizure operation at several premises in Mumbai linked to the actor and also a Lucknow-based group of industries engaged in infrastructure development. A total of 28 premises spread over Mumbai, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jaipur, Delhi and Gurgaon were covered in the search operation that was conducted for four days.
