Actor Sonu Sood’s premises in Mumbai and a Lucknow-based real estate company, which was involved in a deal with him, were raided by Income Tax Department officials on Wednesday. As per a PTI report, the visit of the I-T officials, which was not termed as a raid, was in connection with an alleged tax evasion probe. The report also claimed that a real estate deal is also under the scanner of the income tax department. Amidst this, fans and netizens have extended their support to Sonu on social media.
Twitter has been flooded with reactions and memes supporting Sonu. Many users called the actor the 'real hero' and said they are with their 'messiah'. Notably, #IndiaWithSonuSood has been trending on the microblogging site with Twitterati, condemning the raids.

The I-T survey comes in the wake of Sonu Sood becoming the brand ambassador of the Delhi government's mentorship programme. He received national and humanitarian acclaim for helping people during COVID 19 pandemic.
Back in 2012, the I-T department had conducted raids on the premises of several Bollywood personalities, including Sonu Sood following some allegations against his Mumbai property.
