The MDL Beasts Electronic Music Festival that recently took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was graced by several eminent personalities namely, Steve Aoki, David Guetta, Alessandra Ambrosio and Joan Smalls among many others. The list also included Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor. The main aim behind this fest was to promote Saudi Arabia as a tourist destination across the world. However, this certainly didn’t go down well with an Instagram page Diet Sabya, who is popular for calling out celebs on their fashion plagiarisms. As per him, all the celebrities and influencers promoted the event mainly for “cashing big fat cheques”.

Diet Sabya called out all the celebrities, including Sonam Kapoor, for "rehabilitating the image of Saudi Arabia" and referred to it as a country that has been allegedly abusing a lot of human rights like killing a journalist, deportation of a women’s rights activist and sexual crimes against women. The Veere Di Wedding actress was quick to take notice and respond to the Instagram page’s allegations. She wrote, “Let's agree to disagree, let's appreciate that the whole world is a shithole right now and any positive step forward is something that I want to celebrate. I was treated with immense respect and love as a Hindu brown female actor." (ALSO READ - Diet Sabya Gives It Back To Masaba Gupta And Rhea Kapoor For False Accusations; Read On)

As a response to the same, Diet Sabya, wrote, "Typical tone-deaf responses by celebrities who receive preferential treatment." They also shared a couple of screenshots and videos of people who shared their bad experiences that happened during the music fest. "@sonamkapoor, here is a brown girl at MDLBeast attendance who wasn't 'treated with immense respect' as you were in the VIP section."

As if that wasn’t enough, Diet Sabya went onto to dig an old tweet by Sonam Kapoor, wherein she normalised and supported homosexuality, which is considered illegal in Saudi Arabia. “Sonam Kapoor would be cool if you could explain the hypocrisy of you promoting Saudi Arabia where LGBTQ are subject to capital punishment, or maybe donate the money you made to various LGBTQ groups,” read the story.
