In the last couple of days, we saw many celebs coming forward and supporting farmers in their protest at the Delhi border. In the recent past, popular Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh through his social media post had urged the government to fulfill farmers’ demands who are quietly protesting. Now joining the league are two of the biggest actresses of Bollywood- fashion icon Sonam Kapoor and global icon Priyanka Chopra. Both the divas took to their social media handles and extended their support to them.
Sharing a picture of the ongoing protests, Sonam penned a quote by Daniel Webster which read, “When tillage begins, other arts follow. The farmers, therefore, are the founders of human civilization.” Also supporting her was her husband Anand Ahuja, who though did not pen any message, just posted a picture of the ongoing farmer’s protest. Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra called the farmers the Indian soldiers, and called for their hopes to be met.
Our farmers are India’s Food Soldiers. Their fears need to be allayed. Their hopes need to be met. As a thriving democracy, we must ensure that this crises is resolved sooner than later. https://t.co/PDOD0AIeFv
Also seen supporting the farmers were other celebrities such as Riteish Deshmukh, Hansal Mehta, Anubhav Sinha, Chitrangada Singh, and TV actress Gauahar Khan. Diljit Dosanjh also donated Rs. 1 crore for the farmers which would help them buy winter wear.
