Sonakshi Sinha has come a long way in the industry. Not just in terms of acting but even her personality has undergone a drastic change from when she started. She is fitter, confident and content with the way she is. But in the beginning, the lady faced a lot of fat-shaming. In a recent interview, she spoke about how she faced a lot of rough times in college as well as an actor because of her weight. Sonakshi, who made her debut with Salman Khan’s Dabangg, shared how in college she lost out on opportunities because of her weight.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Sonakshi Sinha stated, “I have been bullied quite a bit. I have had my fair share because I was a fat kid. I used to weight around 95 kilos and I was always a big kid. Even though I used to do a lot of sports, the boys used to bully me and call me names. They wouldn't give me main roles in plays in school. They would always make me stand at the side or be the narrator.” Another incident that she narrated was again from her college days when she couldn’t walk the ramp during a fashion show because she was considered to be overweight.
Sonakshi Sinha went a drastic transformation and lost 30 kilos before marking her debut in Bollywood, yet she faced fat-shaming. She quoted, “It didn't stop there. I lost 30 kilos for my first film. When it released, the audiences lapped me up but the worst part is I was being fat-shamed by the industry people and the media. That really hurt. I knew I wasn't the average-looking stick figure person. I didn't have to. Honestly, I knew I had a lot more to offer than what I weight on the weighing scale. So I never took that to heart.”
Way to go girl!
Sonakshi Sinha was last seen in Mission Mangal and now she is working on Dabangg 3 with Salman Khan.
