Sona Mohapatra is one of the few ladies in showbiz who
call a spade a spade. At a time when the #MeToo and #TimesUp debate is hotting
up, she has lashed out at AIB's Tanmay Bhat and Rohan Joshi for their
misogynistic tweets.
With a screenshot of numerous tweets of Tanmay and Rohan,
Sona wrote, "These top runners of the ‘funny’ race, aren’t really #funny
are they?
#CallOut #AIB #OML #misogynist #boysclub #India #timesup
#Repost @indraniray21 with @get_repost Sickness from the much loved and indulged members of the comic tribe "
The tweets surely are misogynistic in nature, but when the comedians put them out on social media, they were considered to be outrageously funny. Is it always necessary to downgrade women in order to incite laughter from the audiences? Food for thought, isn't it?
This message from Sona comes in the wake of the Utsav Chakraborty scandal, which came to the limelight a couple of days back. Numerous girls came out in the open and spoke about having been asked by comic, Utsav, for nude pics of themselves. Not just that, the man has even been accused of sending inappropriate pics of himself to girls. Since the story broke out, Utsav has apologised profusely on social media. AIB, with whom he was employed till 2016, pulled down videos featuring Utsav and also issued a statement regarding the same. Let's wait and watch what the AIB members have to say about these tweets pointed out by Sona.
