Humara Movie has come up with an anthology of 7 short films titled Shor Se Shuruaat. Having directors like Imtiaz Ali, Shyam Benegal, Homi Adajania, Nagesh Kukunoor, Mira Nair, Zoya Akhtar and Sriram Raghavan mentor young filmmakers, this is going to be a big step in bringing new age content to the audiences.
Today we got in touch with Sriram Raghavan's mentee, Annie Zaidi, who has directed the short Decibel. She has been a journalist and playwright before venturing into the world of filmmaking. The budding filmmaker told us about her maiden venture.
The film follows the protagonist Lina in to a futuristic world. She has recently moved onto the capital city and is finding it difficult to adjust to the new sounds, resulting in sleepless nights. There are rules which govern the sounds she can use and listen to. Will she give in to her temptation of breaking the rules? Well, you will have to sit tight for the film's release to know what happens in the near future.
Decibel manages to give us a strict warning as to what might happen in the coming years, if we don't manage to reduce our noise pollution levels. It takes an imaginative leap into a future where noise control has gone too far.
Shor Se Shuruaat will also feature other short films like Dhvani, Aamer, Azaad, Yellow Tin Can Telephone, Hell O Hello and Mia I'm - all made under the common theme of 'Shor' (Noise).
Shor Se Shuruaat releases worldwide December 16.
