Humara Movie has come up with an anthology of 7 short films titled Shor Se Shuruaat. With directors like Homi Adajania, Shyam Benegal, Sriram Raghavan, Nagesh Kukunoor, Imtiaz Ali, Zoya Akhtar and Mira Nair mentoring young filmmakers, this is going to be a big step in bringing new age content to the audiences.

Today we got in touch with Mira Nair's mentee, Rahul V. Chittella, who has directed the short Azaad. Having been a long-time associate of Mira Nair, this was a golden opportunity for Rahul to make an independent film under the guidance of Mira Nair. He gave us an insight into the story of Azaad.

Azaad is set against the socio-political backdrop of present day India. What happens to a dysfunctional relationship between a father and a son, when the father goes missing for more than 48 hours. Well, quite an interesting question to ponder?

Does the son forget his differences with his father and help the police find him? Or does he take the easy way out and go away from all this, back to his college hostel?  Well, for the answers you will have to wait for the film's release.

Rahul's detailed look at familial ties is very similar to Mira Nair's penchant for looking at dysfunctional Indian families.

Shor Se Shuruaat will also feature other short films like Dhvani, Aamer, Mia I'm, Decibel, Hell O Hello and Yellow Tin Can Telephone - all made under the common theme of 'Shor' (Noise).

Shor Se Shuruaat releases worldwide December 16.
