Popular singer KK has effortlessly managed to reign over the hearts of Indian music lovers and he has given many hits over the last three decades. However, in a rather shocking turn of events, the much-loved singer died at 53 on Tuesday - May 31, 2022. Yes! That’s right and fans still cannot believe that their favourite singer has passed away.
The playback singer collapsed after the concert at Nazrul Mancha and was rushed to a private hospital in the city. He was ‘brought dead’ to Kolkata's CMRI Hospital around 10 pm, hospital authorities said as quoted by IndiaToday.
Earlier, the singer had even posted photos from his concert at Kolkata's Nazrul Mancha.
KK was born in Delhi and was also known for his electric live shows. His Instagram page had been sharing updates from his concert in Kolkata as recently as eight hours ago.
One of the most versatile singers in the Indian film industry, KK has recorded songs in several languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, and Bengali, among others.
In a career spanning over two decades, KK made his debut with Pal in 1999. The singer-composer, whose real name was Krishnakumar Kunnath then focussed more on Bollywood than on his independent music, giving hits such as Tadap Tadap (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, 1999), Dus Bahane (Dus, 2005), and Tune Maari Entriyaan (Gunday, 2014).
Soon after fans and Twitteraties learned of KK’s death, condolences poured in for the singer on Twitter, with people expressing shock and disbelief at his sudden death.
Minister Arup Biswas shared his condolences over KK's death as he said, “Singer Anupam Roy called me up and said he is hearing something bad from the hospital. Then I contacted the hospital. They said he was brought dead. Then I rushed to the hospital.”
"reminder of how fragile life is. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti," tweeted cricketer Virender Sehwag.
"I hear singer KK just passed away. GOD what is really happening!!?? I mean WHAT IS HAPPENING. One of the nicest humans kk sir was. Gone too soon at 53.Beyond shocked. RIP sir," singer Rahul Vaidya tweeted.
"Just can’t believe that our beloved #KK is no more. This really can’t be true. The voice of love has gone. This is heartbreaking," tweeted Harshdeep Kaur.
Singer and music director Armaan Maalik tweeted: "Extremely sad and devastated. Another shocking loss for all of us. Can’t believe our KK sir is no more what is even happening. I can’t take it anymore."
"Extremely sad and shocked to know of the sad demise of KK. What a loss! Om Shanti," wrote actor Akshay Kumar.
