Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor might have tasted success in her professional life but she suffered a rough phase on her personal front. Her marriage with business tycoon Sunjay Kapur did not last long as she miserably suffered at the hands of her ex-husband. Reportedly, Karisma had once lodged a Police complaint against Sunjay accusing him of domestic violence. The actress in her complaint even claimed that Sanjay once asked his mom to slap her just because she could not fit into a dress after her pregnancy.
According to a report in IBT, the Dil Toh Pagal Hai actress mentioned that Sunjay got married to her only because she was a film star. He wanted to get media attention and thus used her as his trophy wife to show off in an elitist social circle in Delhi. In her complaint, Karisma reportedly said, “I also realised that he had married me only as I was a famous and successful film star which would facilitate him to be reported in the press.”
She added, “It came as a surprise that he always wanted to be known in public and be famous, but since he never did any deed worth mentioning, he was not able to garner any attention. Hence, he decided to flaunt me as his trophy wife in an elitist social circle in Delhi where he was trying to gain prominence at that time.”
For the unversed, Karisma Kapoor tied the knot with Sunjay Kapur in 2003 in a grand wedding ceremony. However, the couple got separated in 2014 after 11 years of togetherness. Their divorce turned ugly as both leveled shocking allegations against one another in the public domain. Karisma even lodged a dowry harassment case against Sunjay and his mother Rani.
