Actor John Abraham who is
also producing his upcoming film Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran, has just
announced the official release date of his film. It’s March 2, a date pre-booked by actor and producer Anushka
Sharma for Pari.
Parmanu, was earlier slated to release on February 23 with Welcome To New York featuring Sonakshi
Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh, and Rani Mukerji’s Hichki. By advancing it’s the
release date, John will now take Anushka, head on, at cinema halls. Is that a
sound decision? We’re not too sure.

Parmanu’s initial release date was December 8, but it was pushed to February 23, considering Padmaavat’s earlier release date,
i.e, December 1. The
makers, Prernaa Arora’s KriArj Entertainment, wanted to avoid the after-effects
of Padmaavat, the monster. But as we know, SLB’s magnum opus didn’t end up
releasing on December 1.
Coming back to Parmanu’s new release date
--- March 2, as
decided by John --- will it have an implication on the film’s business?

Well, yes! Incidentally both Parmanu and Pari
are co-produced by Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment. If they release on
the same day, it will be strange and stupid, in equal measure!
Certainly not a good decision by KriArj, which
has an enviable track record of uninterrupted hits in Rustom and Toilet: Ek
Prem Katha --- not to forget that their third with Akshay Kumar, Pad Man (February 9) holds tremendous promise.
