Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are one of the mushiest couples in the Film industry and there is absolutely no denying it. Be it their romantic photos surfacing online or their stylish appearances in the city, the couple never fails to leave us in awe of their sizzling chemistry. It is widely known that Alia and Ranbir’s love blossomed during the shoot of their film ‘Brahmastra’ and the rest is history. But did you know Ayan Mukerji never wanted anyone to see Ranbir-Alia as a couple before his film hit the screens?

Yes, you read that right. Speaking at the poster launch event in Hyderabad, the filmmaker revealed that there are delays in the couple's life because of him. When asked if Ranbir and Alia's love story during the shoot of Brahmastra was a distraction, Ayan was quoted by Pinkvilla as saying, “To be honest, when we started our film, I thought this is the best casting- Ranbir and Alia, powerhouses. It was just too good. Then Ranbir and Alia became very good friends, then very very very good friends in life, then more than friends.”

“So then, I didn't want the whole world to see them for these 4 years. I didn't want anyone to see them till my film had not come out. So, Lots of things haven’t happened in their lives because every time they went out together, I would be sitting at the back saying 'you all are ruining my film. Please don't go anywhere.' It feels good now that we can share them,” he added.

Reacting to Ayan's statement, Karan Johar, who was also present at the event, asserted that "love cannot be curbed" and that Ayan has lost the "leverage of protecting the lead pair."

On a related note, 'Brahmastra' also stars megastar Amitabh Bachchan and South superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni in pivotal roles. The romantic drama is slated to hit the theatres on September 09, 2022.
