Manoj Bajpayee’s recently released trailer for his upcoming Zee5 film Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai has landed in serious legal trouble and the film features him playing the role of a lawyer who goes against a Godman for a rape case of a minor girl under the POSCO Act. As per the trailer, the film is based on real-life incident and the preview was received really well by the audience.
Following the trailer’s release, people immediately pointed out that the character reminded them of Asaram Bapu. However, this wasn’t well received by the godman Asaram Bapu.
Manoj Bajpayee and the makers of the film have been slapped with a legal notice from Asaram Bapu’s charitable trust. They have requested the court to impose restrictions on the film's promotion and release.
The lawyers also maintained that the film is offensive and damaged their client’s reputation and good name. Furthermore, the film also hurt the sentiments of his followers and believers.
As per the latest IndiaToday reports, producer Asif Shaikh and the production company, Practical Productions, received the legal notice from Sant Shri Asharamji Charitable Trust for the legal notice from Sant Shri of their upcoming film, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai.
He confirmed the notice and stated that his legal team has received the notice and that they bought the rights to make a biopic on PC Solanki. He also shared that only when the film is released, people will be able to know the truth and the facts.
The publication got in touch with producer Asif Shaikh of Practical Productions, and he told us, “Yes, we have got the notice, and our lawyers will decide the next move.” Adding more, he stated, “We have made a biopic on PC Solanki, and I bought the rights from him to make this film. Now, if someone says that the film is based on them, they can think whatever they can, and we can’t stop that. Only the film will be able, to tell the truth when it comes out,” as reported by ETimes.
In the film, Manoj Bajpayee reportedly plays the role of the lawyer who found the self-proclaimed Godman guilty and got him behind bars.
