Sonu Sood and his relentless efforts sending migrant workers home amid Coronavirus lockdown is the talk of the town. He has been receiving a lot of praise and appreciation for his kind and selfless act. He arranged numerous buses to send those workers stuck in the city, back to their hometowns, and his relief work is being lauded by many. However, it seems like not everyone is in awe of the actor. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut appeared to have taken a dig at ‘Mahatma’ Sonu Sood in his Saamna Editorial and also raised a few questions for the actor.
In the editorial, Sanjay Raut wrote of a new ‘Mahatma’ named Sonu Sood having emerged all of a sudden during the lockdown. He wrote that it is being said that Sonu Sood transported millions of migrant laborers to their home states and that the Governor of Maharashtra has also showered praise on ‘Mahatma Sood’ for his relief work. Raut then wrote that this suggests that the state governments and the Central government are taking no action. He then raised a few questions, the first being, as to how Sonu Sood was getting buses amid lockdown.
He further questioned that if the states weren’t allowing to take in migrant workers, then where were these migrants going? Sanjay Raut also said that Sonu Sood would "soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and become the celebrity manager of Mumbai."
NCP leader Majeed Memon reacted to this, and said that calling Sonu Sood 'Mahatma' is inappropriate. "With such comparisons, we would make several Mahatmas and devalue the term," he said.
Meanwhile, Sonu Sood had met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan on May 31 to discuss helping migrant workers reach their homes and the latter had praised Sonu Sood for the same.
