Ranveer Singh In Starlight

Ranveer's controversial film, Padmavati, may finally see the light of the day in January next year. It has hit another roadblock at the CBFC's end with a disclaimer not being up to the standards.

However, Singh isn't waiting. He has already begun prepping up for his two next films - Gully Boy and Simmba.

He plays a rapper based on real life rapper - Divine - in Gully Boy. Talking about Ranveer Singh essaying his role in to the film, rapper Divine said, "He's a cool guy and already dresses like a rapper so he needs no tips in the fashion department from me. It is one thing to get audiences to wake up and listen to our kind of music, which is not about girls, gold, and drugs but about real life in Mumbai. But it is an even greater thing when mainstream actors like Ranveer chose to be a Gully Boy. He's now a part of our movement."

Ranveer was spotted attending workshops with real life rappers a few days back.

In the second film, Simmba, Singh plays the naughtiest police officer to have ever appeared onscreen. He is related to the iconic Singham, played by Ajay Devgn, but is completely opposite to what that character is.

Gully Bot directed by Zoya Akhtar will hit theatres mid-next year while Simmba directed by Rohit Shetty will hit screens during the New Year weekend.
