Rumoured lovebirds Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani are gearing up for the release of their upcoming flick Shershaah, which is based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, who died in the 1999 Kargil War. Both the actors have started the promotions for the movie and have been sharing their experience of working on Vishnuvardhan’s directorial. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Sidharth opened up about the difficulties the team faced while shooting the film in Kargil.
“We are the first film to shoot in Kargil about the Kargil War. We have been as authentic as possible. There were so many physical difficulties. (There was the problem of) low oxygen. We shot at a height of 14,000 feet. Though the actual war was fought at 17,000 feet height," Sidharth was quoted as saying.
Sidharth Malhotra mentioned that since they did not have enough infrastructure at these locations, when it rained they huddled under rocks and umbrellas.
“I think it is most authentic and real, the way we have shot the film. For me, and most actors, it was a blessing that there was just one camera and one camera person as we shot, to make us feel as real as possible. There was none of the massive setup. At times, when you are there, crouching behind a rock, you kind of forget that you are actually shooting,” Sidharth further explained.
Meanwhile, Kiara, who plays Sidharth’s love interest in the movie, revealed that she had 'limited information about the Kargil War and soldiers before she began working on Shershaah'. The actress mentioned that she must have been six or seven during the Kargil War. And therefore she did not know as much about it as she knows today, after being a part of the film.
The actress further asserted that being a part of the film, and getting to know things about the army made her proud.
The trailer of Shershaah was launched in Kargil recently - ahead of Kargil Vijay Diwas, in the presence of the movie’s cast and several officers of the Indian Armed Force.
