Shershaah: Sidharth Malhotra Feels Fortunate To Have Played A Real Life Hero Captain Vikram Batra On Silver Screen; Calls it ‘An Experience Bigger Than A Film’

Sidharth Malhotra is all geared for his forthcoming flick Shershaah, which is based on the life of Kargil War hero, Captain Vikram Batra, who died during the war in 1999. The Student of the Year star, who will be seen playing a double role in the biopic, can't wait to share the movie with the world. Recently, Sidharth opened up about playing Kargil hero in Vishnuvardhan’s directorial and stated that he feels lucky to have got the opportunity to play a real-life hero onscreen.

While addressing the media at the trailer launch event of the film, the Ek Villain actor said, “This day is extremely emotional for me. We started this journey five years ago with Vishal Batra ji. This is my first film where I have portrayed the life of a real-life hero. Shershaah has been an experience bigger than a film.”

He added, “I would like to thank the Indian Army... This story is about true, real-life heroes like you. And I consider myself lucky that I got to play him.”

Kiara Advani, who plays Dimple Cheema - the love interest of Sidharth in the film, asserted that working on the film transformed her on a personal level. The actress was quoted as saying, “Some films change you professionally but there are some that change you personally. Shershaah is that film for me. Thank you to the Batra family, Dimple and everyone who made this possible for us. I will forever be grateful. We can't wait to share this with the world.”

On a related note, Bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Shershaah is scheduled to be released on August 12 on Amazon Prime Video. The trailer of the film was launched on July 25 ahead of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Besides Karan and the film’s lead actors, the event was attended by several officers of the Indian Armed Forces.
