YRF’s big production film, Shamshera was announced a very long time ago; however, so far, the makers have only released its first motion poster back in 2018. Since then, they have not unveiled a single update about the film, until today. In a recent interview with a daily, the director of the film, Karan Malhotra revealed Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt starrer deserves to be on the big screen as it is a ‘visual extravaganza’. Well, going by the director’s words, it seems like Shamshera will release in the theatres and not on any OTT platform.

Talking about his film to Mid-Day, the filmmaker said, "I have grown up on [mainstream] Hindi cinema, and wanted to create a true blue Hindi film that everyone could enjoy in theatres. Shamshera is a visual extravaganza with complex human emotions at its core. It deserves to be on the big screen where people have, over the years, had a wholesome cinematic experience", adding that he is waiting for the current situation to ‘improve’ in order to release his prestigious project in a big manner.

Reportedly the period drama will have Ranbir playing a double role. “Ranbir is a generation-defining actor and has given his best to the film. As far as Dutt is concerned, the audience will be in for a surprise,” promises the director. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor.

On his birthday today, Karan is mixing the Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt film that he feels will give a ‘wholesome cinematic experience of watching Hindi films’ in theatres.

“I will be celebrating my birthday by finalising the mix of Shamshera, a vision I have cherished for some time now. I can’t wait to share Shamshera with you all. As a filmmaker, I have been fortunate enough to be able to tell stories that I would like to see as an audience and Shamshera is definitely that kind of a story. It is a visual extravaganza with complexed human emotions and it deserves to be on the big screen where people have, for years had a truly wholesome cinematic experience of watching Hindi feature films,” he shared.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Ranbir Kapoor is said to be shooting the final portions of Brahmastra, also starring Alia Bhatt Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Mouni Roy and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles. He also has Luv Ranjan’s untitled film which also stars Ajay Devgn and Shraddha Kapoor. ALSO READ: Ranbir Kapoor Pairs His Casual Look With Latest Air Jordan Shoes That Are Worth Your Home's Down Payment; The Cost Will Make Your Jaws Drop
