Sanjay Dutt is one of the strongest personalities in the industry. He has portrayed some epic villains on screen like Kancha in Agneepath, Adhira in KGF 2, and Ballu in Khal Nayak to name a few. He is yet again back as a ruthless and cold-hearted villain- Suddha Singh in his upcoming film Shamshera, directed by Karan Malhotra. Karan Malhotra in a recent interview told that Dutt did all the action sequences while he was battling cancer.
Karan Malhotra while speaking to ANI said, “The news that Sanjay sir had been diagnosed with cancer came to all of us like a huge shock. We had no idea about it. He was talking, behaving and working as if nothing has happened. I guess that’s why he is where he is today, having conquered this too. Sanjay sir doesn’t let anything get the better of him. He is an inspiration on the sets for everyone.”
The director added, “Having given so many years of his life to his craft, Sanjay sir leads from the front and his demeanor shows us all how to conduct ourselves on the set. He went about shooting Shamshera with the attitude that there is nothing he can’t conquer. He never mentioned what he was going through personally. He kept the mood on the set light.”
Interestingly, the Agneepath director called the Vaastav actor ‘Superman’ for battling cancer and conquering it. He even told that he considers Dutt as his mentor and guide and mentioned that he can’t thank him enough for his support in making Shamshera. Malhotra told that Sanjay’s attitude toward living life and his dedication to work motivated us that any difficulty in life can be faced with a smile.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor also mentioned in an interaction with Prajakta Koli that, whenever Sanjay Dutt came on set everyone from the director to the technician would go to him and greet him. He also knew each one’s name. He has a magnetic personality.
Talking about the film, Shamshera stars Ranbir Kapoor in a double role and Vaani Kapoor as the female lead. The film is set in the fictitious city of Kaza. The magnum opus is slated to release on July 22, 2022, pan India.
