Kareena Kapoor's husband Saif Ali Khan was supposed to do a film with the Lootera director Vikrmaditya Motwane but due to differences over the film's script, the actor left both, the project and the director in limbo. However, Motwane was quick to fine-tune the story and from what we hear, promptly pitched it to Kareena's ex Shahid Kapoor.

Incidentally, Shahid shares a comfortable equation with the production company run by Motwane, Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena. The actor's first release post-wedding will be Bahl's Shaandar followed by Abhishek Chaubey's Udta Punjab, also a Phantom production.

Said a source, "A few days ago, Motwane told Shahid to step into the lead role. Shahid has consented to do it. The modalities are fast being worked out."

While not much is known about the film, SpotboyE.com has it that the plot revolves around a top movie star's tryst with stardom. We reached out to both Shahid and Motwane, but they chose not to comment.

Interestingly, Shahid and Saif will be sharing space in Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon which also stars Kangana Ranaut.
