In his decade long career,
Shahid Kapoor has never gone the swords and sandals way. Comedy, action,
Shakespearean drama, he has done it all and he will now finally do a period
film.
The actor will be seen playing a warrior in the
Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Magadheera. The romantic-action film revolves
around a soldier and a princess whom he has sworn to protect. Both of them lose
their lives due to the treachery of her cousin. But all the characters are
reborn and reunited 400 years later and drama ensues.

The original
starred Ram Charan and Kajal Aggarwal and the remake will have another Southern
star paired with Shahid. Pooja Hegde who made her Bollywood debut with the
universally panned Hrithik Roshan starrer Mohenjo Daro, will play the hapless
princess in the film.
Her first
attempt at playing an old world beauty did not go down too well with the
audiences and critics but Pooja Hegde may get second time lucky with the
remake.

As for the helmer
of the project, it is Krish who had earlier directed Akshay Kumar in Gabbar Is
Back.
Will Shahid
Kapoor toughen up to play an ancient warrior and will Pooja be convincing as a
princess? Only time and box office will tell.
