Remember the maid whom actor Shahid Kapoor chased in Kabir Singh? Well actress Vanita Kharat spilled the beans about posing in a buff as she kickstarts 2021. In a conversation with ETimes, the actress spoke about the hesitation an overweight person has with the body. Hence according to her this photoshoot is like spreading positivity and understanding the definition of beauty. Further mentions why one should not sulk about setting in mould of being fair and lean set by the society.
She said, “That we all are beautiful. Why should an overweight girl be conscious about her looks and clothes? I have seen even men being very bothered if they are overweight, but women are in the majority. The photoshoot is our way of contributing to the body positivity movement. I want people to understand the beauty of the thought behind it and celebrate themselves no matter how they look, without sulking about why they aren't lean and fair. Why are we told that only dolls and fairies are beautiful since childhood?”
She also shared that because of her body type, she has been offered elderly roles such as of a mother, maid, aunt and so on. The photoshoot was done before the New Year’s Eve, also she did not reveal it to her parents till it was done.
Sharing her parents’ reaction to it she said, “To be honest, I did not tell my parents about it until it was over. But when I told them and showed the picture to them, they took it very positively and called it a part of my job.
