Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan has quite a presence on social media, and she often treats her 1.4 million fans on Instagram with interesting posts. Apart from pictures, videos, and selfies giving a glimpse of her glamorous life, Suhana also often raises certain thought-provoking questions on social media, and gives fans much to ponder about. This time around, Suhana’s Instagram story brought to attention that Disney does not have a princess of Indian origin. Raising the question, she made an appeal to Disney about the same.
Princess Belle, Rapunzel, Aurora, Jasmine, Ariel, Merida, Snow White, Pocahontas- Disney has portrayed several powerful, strong characters as princesses and they have only evolved through time. However, Suhana Khan pointed out that there is no Disney princess of Indian origin. She took to her Instagram stories and requested Disney to make an Indian princess. She shared a picture of Princess Jasmine from Aladdin and wrote, “@disney make an Indian princess!!” along with a frowning emoji.
This post by Suhana Khan resonated with a lot of people, and many of Suhana Khan’s fan clubs also shared her post. Take a look:
Back in September, Suhana Khan had made a social media post urging people to end colorism. She had written that she was told she was ugly since the age of 12, by grown men and women, because of her skin color. “Hating on your own people just means that you are painfully insecure. I'm sorry if social media, Indian matchmaking or even your own families have convinced you, that if you're not 5"7 and fair you're not beautiful. I hope it helps to know that I'm 5"3 and brown and I am extremely happy about it and you should be too. #endcolourism,” she wrote.
