Shah Rukh Khan who is a superstar for years now has been ruling the hearts of his audience with his acting chops and charm on the silver screen for over 3 decades now. Before he became a big name in the entertainment business, the actor was a commoner who grew up in an ordinary household in New Delhi, but definitely a unique one. Like many families even today, food remains an integral part of the Khan family. In an interview with Indian Express in 2016, the actor had spilled the beans about his early memories of food, shared how his parents were great cooks, thus getting him spoilt for choices.

When the actor was quizzed about his favourite dishes cooked by his parents, he mentioned Pathani food recipes cooked by his father Taj Mohammed Khan being his favourite especially Raan. Meanwhile, he had also mentioned his mother being an ace cook too especially when it came to some lip-smacking Hyderabadi meals such as mutton biryani and khatti dal. He said, “It has to be the food cooked at home. It has to be eating a wonderful raan cooked by my father. My father was a Pathan. He ate like one, too. He used to eat a lot of dry Pathani food — which was traditional to Peshawar — particularly raan.”

Followed by mentioning his mother’s cooked recipes, he said, “My mother cooked almost everything really well, but I loved her Hyderabadi food — the mutton biryani and khatti dal in particular”
