Months and months of speculations were laid to rest when Farhan Akhtar took to social media and announced that Ranveer Singh will be replacing Shah Rukh Khan as the new Don. The announcement was received with mixed reactions. As the chatter about the upcoming movie is settling down, an old video from an award function resurface where SRK can be seen praising Ranveer’s performance in Band Baaja Baaraat and consoling him.
The video was posted on the subreddit Bolly Blinds N Gossip with the caption, “This seems like the perfect time to post this. SRK to Ranveer: “Ab tu jo aa gaya hai toh humara kya hoga”.” It is seen that the actor, who was a newbie at the time, gets really emotional after receiving an award for his performance in his debut film. He delivers a gratitude-filled speech and promises the audiences to deliver good projects in the future.
As he starts to exit the stage, the senior actor, who is standing there with Karan Johar and Shahid Kapoor, calls the actor and tries to console him. Quoted by BollywoodShaadis, he can be heard saying, “Ruk jana, kaha jaa raha hai, idha aa nah yaar, ek minute yaar, baat toh suun meri, ro kyun raha hai yaar, rona toh ab humein chahiye, tu aa gaya hai, ab humara kya hoga yaar, tu kyun aagaya hai industry mein. Gaalein lag humare. Humko thoda pyaar de. Aur hum tujhe bataye.”
