Five-time National Film award-winning actress Shabana Azmi celebrates her Birthday today. Born on September 18, 1950, the veteran actress and Padma Shri award holder turned 70-years old today. It was back in January this year that Shabana Azmi met with an unfortunate accident on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. Now, in an interview, on Shabana Azmi’s Birthday, the veteran actress opens up about her unfortunate car accident. The five-time National film award-winning actress shared how she was told that her nerve-wracking car accident back was a close shave.

In an interview with the Times Of India, Shabana Azmi was questioned about her health and the unfortunate car accident, near Khandala. In her response, the veteran actress mentioned how she had fainted. Talking about the car accident, Shabana Azmi said, “I had fainted. I was told it was a very close shave.” As the veteran actress shared how she was told that the car accident was a close shave, she joked and added, “Because of the injury to the brain, I can say that I have a brain (smiles).”

Shabana Azmi who was hospitalized after the car accident revealed that she resumed work after 40 days. Sharing details on the same, Shabana Azmi continued, “But 40 days later, I resumed work for ‘Halo’ in Budapest and now I am shooting for Nikhil Advani's ‘Moghuls’. Work keeps you going and you need to carry on.” Talking about the time after her car accident, Azmi shared, “I received so much respect and concern from all parts of the world during that accident period and I think that's one of the main reasons I recovered.”


Meanwhile, Shabana Azmi how things got back to normal for her and mentioned how she still goes off to Khandala even after the unfortunate accident. She shared, “I still go off to Khandala but have to be a little careful of course but aisa bhi nahin ki saara time wohi sochna hai. I think we need to live life to the fullest.” On the other hand, Shabana Azmi also mentioned how this year, her birthday celebrations will be low-key understanding the pandemic situation.
