Actor Saif Ali Khan in an old interview opened up about his ‘nawab tag’ and revealed that his upbringing was very normal like others. The actor spoke at length about his teenage days and stated that his parents- mother Sharmila Tagore and father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi hardly used to give him any pocket money during his growing up days. Yes, you read that right! This revelation came as a big surprise for people who thought Saif to have had lavish childhood as he was born with a silver spoon.

In 2017, while speaking with Asian Age, the Omkara actor stated that although he had a privileged upbringing, it was like normal. Saif was quoted saying, “I definitely had a privileged upbringing, but as far as money goes, my parents never gave me any pocket money… at least not more than the guy next door. I had a normal upbringing, and there are no nawabs (royals); it’s a tag in movies. My father (Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi) was the last nawab (royal). And even he didn’t think of himself as one. The image isn’t because I’m a nawab (royal), but because I enjoy the lifestyle of a movie star. Sometimes you can’t beat your image, and it’s okay. It’s fine. If the image was true, it would be nothing to me.” ALSO READ: Saif Ali Khan On Paying Rs 5 Crores As Alimony To Amrita Singh, ‘I’m Not Shah Rukh Khan, I Don’t Have That Kind Of Money’

The 52-year-old actor also mentioned that he feels a biopic should be made on his father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi as his life is a “little more cinematic” with many ups and downs.

On the work front, Saif will next be seen in the upcoming film 'Vikram Vedha' with Hrithik Roshan and Radhika Apte. Directed by Pushkar–Gayathri, the actioner is a remake of the Tamil film of the same name and will hit the theatres on September 30, 2022.

Saif Ali Khan was last seen with Rani Mukerji in ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2.’
