From directing films to starring in them as well as music videos, Divya Khossla has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Known for her charming personality, she has often portrayed headstrong characters in her films. She will now be seen in a never-seen-before avatar in Abhinay Deo directorial Savi: A Bloody Housewife. With a run time of 126.10 minutes, the action-thriller has finally been released in theatres. Co-starring Anil Kapoor and Harshvardhan Rane in pivotal roles, let’s see how the movie fares and whether it is worth your watch. Savi tells the story of an Indian couple - Nakul (Harshvardhan Rane) and Savitri Sachdev (Divya Khossla) leading their best life in the UK, Liverpool along with their son. One fine day as the family gets ready for their day, police officials come banging on the door and arrest Nakul for the murder of his boss. Savi with the help of their trusted lawyer friend, tries to prove his innocence, but they fail to gather any evidence. Circumstances lead to Savi planning a dangerous jailbreak, when she comes across an ex-convict J. Paul (Anil Kapoor), who helps her in her plans. Talking about the performances by the cast, Kapoor shines in the entire movie with his quirky personality. His back-and-forth with Khossla’s character and donning different outfits while coming to help her are the true highlights of the film. Rane as a bad boy-turned-good for the love of his life is something the audience has already seen him portray before in Sanam Teri Kasam.

On the other hand, Divya also shines in her performance as a housewife out on a mission. While Rane and Khossla have played their parts well, their chemistry as childhood sweethearts lacks the magic that we have seen on the screen many times. There comes a point in the movie where a frustrated Nakul asks Savi why she planned the jailbreak to which she tells him that she can’t live without him, however, the emotions of the sequence doesn’t evoke any sense of longing. The chemistry between the duo felt flat. On the contrary, Divya’s chemistry with Anil Kapoor seems flawless.

The director has done his best to bring forward an action-thriller on the big screen amid hardcore action movies. However, the scripting of the film could have been more crisper especially in the second half when Savi successfully executes her plan of breaking Nakul out of jail. With the police alert and on their tail, the officials constantly telling Savi to put her gun down or to not do this, seems very foolish as the housewife has already made up her mind and nothing can stop her. The main element of the film, the police officials chasing Savi and Nakul for committing a crime, doesn’t give one the thrill or the shock value that a chasing sequence is supposed to give. The entire sequence just feels dragged out and boring.

While the movie could have been made more crisp, the songs Humdum, Vada Humse Karo and Khol Pinjara perfectly support the ongoing storyline. The songs help you understand Savi’s emotions and her strong will perfectly.

All in all, the film is an okay watch, there is nothing standout about this action thriller. One can certainly give it a miss at the theatres.
