Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani has had an eventful last few days. Firstly, his co-production, the Akshay Kumar-starrer Bell Bottom released in theatres on August 20, becoming the first film to do so after the second wave of covid pandemic. Then recently, he had the release of his directorial series, The Empire, and now he is gearing up for the release of another series that he has directed, Mumbai Diaries 26/11, on September 9.

As a producer too, Nikkhil has multiple films in the pipeline and one of them is Milap Zaveri’s Satyameva Jayate 2, featuring John Abraham and Divya Khosla Kumar in the lead. The film was originally scheduled to release in October 2020 but had to be pushed due to the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown shutting down the theatres. The makers planned a new release date for May 13, 2021, as an Eid release, but that had to be pushed too.

The makers have been adamant that they want to release the film in theatres only and will do so when theatres re-open. So, now that the theatres have re-opened considerably and two films—Bell Bottom and Chehre—have released, has Nikkhil given a thought to the new release date of Satyameva Jayate 2? “While the theatres have opened up at 50 per cent capacity, I believe that the way Milap shoots and thinks and the conviction that he has with regards to the audience response in the form of seetis and taalis, we need the theatres to be working at 100 per cent capacity. So, we will wait,” he responds.

Nikkhil shares that their vision of the film requires it to be screened at full capacity only and anything less would not do justice to it. “We are getting the film ready and I think I owe it to Milap and he owes it to his audience to wait as we make the film for the audience. So, it will be unfair to release the film when theatres are open at 50 per cent capacity and not at all open in Maharashtra. We want the theatres to be open everywhere with 100 per cent capacity. We will wait and hold on and we promise that when theatres open 100 per cent, if not the first film, Satyameva Jayate 2 will be amongst one of the first films to release in theatres,” he promises.
