Veteran actor Sunil Shende, who entertained audiences with movies like Sarfarosh, Khal Nayak, Zameen passed away on November 14. The actor was in his 70s and breathed his last at 1 in the morning at his residence in Vile Parle, Mumbai.
Confirming the news, film and music critic Pawan Jha told PTI, that the actor's body was cremated in the afternoon. Quoted by India.com, Jha said, "He died at his residence in Vile Parle at 1 am last night and his body was cremated this afternoon at the Hindu crematorium in Parshiwada."
Actor Rajesh Tailang, who worked with Shende in the serial Shanti, mourned the loss of the actor. In a tweet, he shared that he was fortunate enough to get a chance to work with the late actor. He wrote, "Great actor and and a great human being …Shri Sunil Shende is no more.I was fortunate enough to get a chance to work with him in the serial Shanti, I played his son. Babuji saadar shraddhanjali."
For the unversed, his career spanned over 30 years. He was known to play memorable characters in movies like Gandhi, Khal Nayak, Ghayaal, Ziddi, Daud, Magan, and Viruddh. He is best known for his performance as the deputy commissioner of police in the Aamir Khan starrer Sarfosh. He also played the role of an inept politician in Rohit Shetty’s Zameen, starring Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan.
