Taking a break from doing heavyweight roles on-screen, it is refreshing to watch actor Saif Ali Khan in Jawaani Jaaneman and play this cool and careless soul, not wanting to take responsibility of a family. The movie pairs versatile actress Tabu opposite Saif and has launched Pooja Bedi's daughter Alaya F in the role of his on-screen daughter. But very few knew that the makers initially were planning to rope in the real-life father-daughter duo Saif and Sara Ali Khan for the flick.
Confirming the news in an interview with Pinkvilla.com, the actor confirmed it being true. Though Kedarnath marked Sara’s Bollywood debut, the film had hit a roadblock and was almost shelved, thus leaving the actress with no film back then. That’s when Saif recalls approaching his daughter and the desire to take her under his wings for Jawaani Jaaneman. Later things fell in place with Kedarnath being followed by Simmba, letting Sara make her own place in the industry. Eventually, Saif asked Sara not to get on board for Jawaani Jaaneman as it was just a backup plan. ALSO READ:

The Laal Kaptaan actor was quoted saying by the portal, “Yes, what had happened was that Kedarnath had almost been shelved and Sara didn't have another movie. So this film was around and being the knight in shining armour and a good daddy, I asked her if she would like to do this. She had said yes.”
He further added, “Kedarnath came back on track and then, Simmba also fell in place. I only told her then that listen, Sara, don't do this film. This was a backup for you. I think I could have done it with someone else but she should be working with Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan next. She said she would like to do that. I wouldn't want her to do a film just because it's me. It gets really complicated when it's about family.” ALSO READ:

Besides Jawaani Jaaneman, the father-daughter duo had been approached for 3-5 films, but the duo didn’t give a nod to it. The actor revealed of sometimes him not being convinced to sign on the dotted line, and sometimes Sara as well.
