Sanjay Dutt who was last seen in Kalank as Balraj Choudhary which was directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar was going to be the face of the Anti-Drug campaign for the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26. But due to certain reasons, the proposal has been rejected by the ministry. According to the Hindu, the Union Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry officials have reported that the proposal made to make the actor the face of the campaign was rejected by Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot.

It was also said that the plan was dropped as there were several disagreements on the actor being the face of the campaign. A ministry official also added that the idea of the actor being the ambassador for the campaign is out of the question but in future, it can happen with another face.

The actor was a drug addict for most of his early years and has been quite vocal about his battle with drug addiction. The actor has also mentioned how it helped him to quit drugs and lead a normal life. The most justified reason for the rejection by the government officials might possibly be this, due to which now Sanjay Dutt will not be the face of this campaign.

Sanjay Dutt will be next seen in Ashutosh Gowariker’s periodic historical drama Panipat and has also signed Girish Malik’s Torbaaz. The actor will also be seen simultaneously in Samshera, Sadak 2 and Bhuj: The Pride of India. The actor has recently entered into regional cinema and is producing Marathi film Baba which is a tribute to his late father Sunil Dutt.
