Actress Sameera Reddy has opened up about dealing with postpartum depression struggle following the birth of her first child. The actress welcomed her first child son Hans with her husband Akshai Varde in 2015. The couple was blessed with their second child, daughter Nyra in 2019. Sameera has revealed that postpartum stress was really hard on her as she was unaware it existed. The actress also recalled how due to postpartum depression she couldn’t feel happy despite trying hard after the birth of her first child.

On Thursday, Sameera shared a collage of two throwback photographs. The first photo showed her seating in a chair, holding her infant boy in her hands with a coconut placed on her head as part of a ritual. Another click depicted her standing with her infant in her arms. Alongside this collage, Reddy wrote, “Even though mental illnesses can’t be seen, they exist . Mental health awareness refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior such as Depression, anxiety , bipolar disorder, PPD etc . For me Postpartum stress was hard and i did not act fast enough because I was unaware it existed . The pics I shared in this post was me at my lowest.”

She added, “I couldn’t feel happy however hard I tried after the birth of my first child . I still reflect on these moments and it only drives me harder to reach out to anyone not feeling good about themselves. You are not alone . And being there for each other in tough times is so important. What can we do to help ourselves & others ? Take care of yourself & be aware of your emotional Health.”


On the professional front, Sameera Reddy has been away from movies for quite some time. She was last seen in the Kannada movie 'Varadhanayaka.' She has appeared in a number of Bollywood movies such as Taxi No 9211, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, De Dana Dan, and Race.
