Saif Ali Khan used to be known for his cute boy looks in the ’90s and his comic timing in the early 2000s. However, in the last few years of his career, the actor has kept his audience on their toes with a diverse slate of performances that include films like Laal Kaptaan, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Jawani Jaaneman and the more recent, Bhoot Police.
One of his most popular films of all time has to be Farhan Akhtar’s debut directorial, Dil Chahta Hai, alongside Aamir Khan and Akshaye Khanna. And now, in an interview with Pinkvilla, the actor has confirmed his return to the production house after 20 years. “I have been wanting to do a film with Excel for a while now. In-fact, we have signed up for a film called Fire. It’s about the firemen,” he revealed.
Going further, Saif shares his excitement of reuniting with the team at Excel. “They are so organized and have a lovely work atmosphere for the actors. I am really looking forward to getting into Fire,” he said. Fire, which is to be directed by Rahul Dholakia, is expected to go on floors next year.
The actor also tickled the funny bone of the audience by explaining his choice of roles. “I have noticed that a lot of roles that I am doing, and this is what I mean by being commercial, can be represented by an emoticon on the phone chat. For Bhoot Police, there is a ghost, for Adipurush, there is a red devil, a cop for Vikram Vedha and for Fire, there’s a fireman too. I think the next role that I choose, has to be an emoticon,” he quips.
Meanwhile, apart from Fire, Saif has a very interesting line up of films as well. He has Adipurush with Prabhas and Kriti Sanon where he plays Lankesh, then he has Vikram Vedha remake with Hrithik Roshan. His reunion with Rani Mukerji, Bunty Aur Babli 2, which also features Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari is also complete and looking for a release date for a while now.
