Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan recently praised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, highlighting the significant transformation in Gandhi’s public image. According to Khan, Gandhi has managed to change people's perception of him through hard work and dedication. The actor expressed admiration for politicians who exhibit bravery and honesty, traits he sees in Gandhi.
During the India Today Mumbai Conclave 2024 on Thursday evening, Khan was asked which politician—Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, or AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal—he thought was brave enough to lead India into the future. Khan diplomatically responded by stating that all three are "brave politicians." However, he singled out Rahul Gandhi for specific praise, mentioning that Gandhi had once been widely disrespected for his statements and actions. Khan noted that Gandhi had turned things around by working diligently, which he found impressive.
Despite his compliments, Khan was careful to remain apolitical, emphasizing that he does not wish to align himself with any political party or ideology. He acknowledged the importance of democracy in India, remarking that the country’s vibrant political landscape reflects a thriving democratic system. Khan also mentioned that while he respects those who participate in politics, he has no desire to enter the field himself. He explained that he does not want the "heat" that comes with political involvement and would prefer to remain neutral in his outlook.
Khan humorously added that journalists are braver than he is, implying that they face more scrutiny than actors like himself. He reiterated that if he ever developed strong political opinions, he would consider becoming a politician, but for now, he prefers to stay away from that world.
Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan’s latest film Devara, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR, hit theatres on September 27.
