For months fans have been waiting to get a glimpse of India's first original web show on Netflix, and finally the teaser is out. Sacred Games starring Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte is based on Vikram Chandra's novel of the same name which came out in 2006. Check out the teaser right here:
The web show goes by the tagline, "Even if you're a god, betrayal is the only truth." Those who've read the book would know the context of the phrase.
Directors Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane successfully capture the darkness of the plot. To us, it seems strikingly similar to the international Netflix show, Narcos, at certain places.
Sacred Games follows a Mumbai police officer, Sartaj Singh, played by Saif Ali Khan. He is after a powerful crime lord Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Radhika Apte, plays a RAW analyst-Anjali Mathur.
Anupriya Goenka, who has been seen in Bollywood films like Dishoom, Tiger Zinda Hai and Padmaavat, is also part of Sacred Games.
Let's wait and watch whether Anurag and Vikramaditya are able to do justice to the gritty tale of Mumbai's underworld. Sacred Games premiers on Netflix on July 6.
