It's indeed a golmaal story if we tell you who has the rights of the franchise Golmaal now. Not the bankrupt Ashtavinayak, but the franchise director Rohit Shetty!
And how did this happen? Before that, let's remind you that we were the first to tell you that Shetty's remake of Ram Lakhan for Karan Johar has been shifted to the backburner, after Ranveer Singh (Ranveer Singh not interested to play Lakhan, Jan 14) and Varun Dhawan (Now, Varun Dhawan refuses to play Lakhan, Feb 2) refused to play Lakhan, post his Dilwale missed the bull's eye.
So yeah, how did this happen?
Buzz is, Shetty had taken Rs 18 crore from Sachin Ahir's wife Sangeeta and promised her that he will make Golmaal 4 for her. The only hitch was that the rights belonged to Raju Shah- the man who is largely instrumental for Ashtavinayak's closure. For those who've come in late, Raju had dragged the makers of Jab We Met, Bol Bachchan and Golmaal (Raj and Dhillin Mehta of Ashtavinayak) to court for nonpayment of dues, and skeletons had tumbled out from their cupboards leading to their arrest. Shah went on to acquire the rights of Golmaal through a court purchase.

Terms and conditions? Rs 7.5 crore, plus he'll be an equity holder in all the parts of Golmaal made, more so after the 4th part with Sangeeta is over.
A few days ago, Shetty called up Raju to initiate a deal.
The meetings took place at Shetty's office in Maurya Landmark, Lokhandwala where Raju told Shetty that he's game to selling the rights.

Shetty agreed almost instantly; Sangeeta was dancing on his head to know when he'll roll out Golmaal 4.
SpotboyE also has it that Shetty plans to release Golmaal 4 in 2017. The film is expected to go on floors sometime later this year.
What if he gets his Ram and Lakhan before he puts Golmaal 4 on floors? That would be a tough call he'll have to take then.
