Last year, actor Rohit Roy shocked everyone with his amazing physical transformation. The actor seemed to have defied the ageing Gods as soon as he crossed the barrier of turning 50 and he credits his looks to his genetics.
But even before the transformation, Rohit was always into fitness, and he shares the secret behind it. “I don’t have any bad habits and have a fairly decent lifestyle. I eat very well and have a positive mindset. I have never admitted it on record, but I meditate a lot and I also know it goes against the image I have built for myself. I am into Vipassana and that calm and positivity never leaves you. I want to tell the youth that don’t discard spirituality as something for old people, as it is for everyone. Your lives are at your racy best in your 20s, but the positivity and strength you get out of meditation makes you happy. It helps me stay balanced,” he shares.
However, Rohit does take the credit for himself on embarking on the journey towards achieving that fit body and undergoing that transformation. “I will take credit for it as that was bloody hard work. What inspired me to go into the transformations was that I wanted to be my best at 50. I have never been into body building, but I was into fitness and nutrition,” he says.
Rohit insists that he never wanted six-pack abs, but then two things happened to him at the same time. “First thing was I turned 49. People used to say that I don’t look more than 40, so I thought of making it better and entering my 50's looking like a Greek God. Secondly, the Mumbai Saga came my way and it starred John Abraham. I didn’t want anyone to say Sanjay Gupta just cast his friend. I wanted them to say that this bugger is giving John a run for his money. So, these two reasons were behind my transformation,” he reveals.
Rohit also informs that even Salman Khan had a hand in pushing him to achieve the physical health that he is in now. “As destiny would have it, I met Salman on a Diwali and he said some bad words to me about my appearance, saying I was looking really fat and gross, and told me to get back into shape. He has been amongst my dearest supporters from the time I was launched and he always called me 60s ka hero. So, that’s how I got into my journey of transformation and now here I am,” he concludes.
