After being diagnosed with cancer in 2018, Bollywood veteran actor Rishi Kapoor breathed his last on April 30, 2020. The actor passed away a day after Irrfan Khan left for his heavenly abode on April 29, the same year. While his family and fans continue to reel with the loss of the veteran star, his fans have been eagerly waiting to see the actor spill his magic for one last time on the big screen. Now here’s good news for all those who were waiting to know an update about his last film, Sharmaji Namkeen.
According to a report in ABP Live, Rishi Kapoor’s last film Sharmaji Namkeen will release in theatres on his birth anniversary. While the shooting of the film is yet to be completed, makers want to release the film as a tribute to the late actor as his fans. Rishi Kapoor passed away before completing Honey Trehan’s Sharmaji Namkeen. However, as a mark of respect to the late actor, Paresh Rawal stepped into his shoes to complete the leftover portions. Sharmaji Namkeen will release on his birthday i.e., September 4, 2021.
Earlier speaking about Rishi Kapoor, director Honey Trehan had told us, “He was full of life. Koi negative thought nahi tha. He used to shoot for long hours without any complaints. I remember when we were shooting in Jan, he came to Delhi two days before the shooting date. The very next day, his sister Ritu Jain passed away. We sent him our condolences and told him we can start after a few days. But he instead said, 'Why should we delay? The show must go on. My Dad taught me this. Okay, tell me the call time for tomorrow'. And believe me, he was there on the set the next day, on the dot at 8.30 am.”
