In a tragic situation, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and eleven others died after the mi-17V5 helicopter crashed in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Gen Rawat and his wife Madhulika's funeral will be held in Delhi on Friday. Several Bollywood celebrities including Kangana Ranaut, Karan Johar and Anupam Kher took to social media to pay tribute to him.

Taking to Instagram stories, Kangana wrote, "Worst news of the year Shri #BipinRawat and his wife passed away in a tragic helicopter crash. The nation will always be grateful to General Rawat for her service to the nation. Om Shanti. Jai Hind." Ajay Devgn tweeted, "Grieved to know about the untimely demise of Gen. Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, and his troops of the Indian Armed Forces. My deepest condolences to all their families." Paresh Rawal wrote, "PRAYER FOR. CDS SHRI BIPIN RAWAT JI."


Vivek Oberoi expressed his grief on knowing about the unfortunate demise and wrote, "Deeply saddened to know about the demise of Gen #BipinRawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat. Sir, we salute you for 4 decades of selfless service to our motherland. I join our nation in mourning the loss of one of India's finest soldiers. #RIP #OmShanti." Actor Siddharth wrote, "Devastating news of the Helicopter crash involving CDS Gen #BipinRawat, his wife and other dignitaries. Prayers for their families and hoping for some positive development coming in. Life is so fragile and unpredictable."
