Bollywood actress Richa Chadha, who is an avid social media user, often shares her opinions on political matters on Twitter. The Fukrey actress recently received severe backlash for tweeting “Galwan says hi” as Lt General Upendra Dwivedi spoke about reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Richa’s tweet stirred up a controversy on social media with several netizens and political leaders claiming she mocked and insulted the Indian Army.

Richa, on Wednesday, shared a statement of the Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi on her Twitter handle and wrote, “Galwan says hi.” Addressing the media in the statement, Dwivedi talked about how the Indian army is ready to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Soon after Richa posted this tweet, a certain section of people got angry and slammed her. Even BJP leader Majinder Singh Sirsa called the actress's tweet disgraceful and said it should be withdrawn at the earliest. Sira wrote, “Disgraceful tweet. Should be withdrawn at the earliest. While adding to Defence Minister Rajnath Shinde’s previous speech, Upendra, Dwivedi said, “As far as the Indian Army is concerned, it will carry out any order given by the Government of India. Whenever such orders are given, we will always be ready for it. The military is always ready to make sure that ceasefire understanding is never broken as it is in the interest of both nations, but if broken at any time, we will give them a befitting reply.”

Richa’s tweet has yet again started netizens to call for a boycott of Bollywood films. Soon after her tweet, #BoycottBollywood started trending on Twitter.
