Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda came under the scanner for a problematic joke he once made on former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati. A Twitter user shared an old clip featuring Randeep Hooda attending a chat show. In the video, Hooda made a sexist joke on politician Mayawati. The user called out the actor for his inappropriate joke. Later, the Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai actor faced severe backlash on social media. Many demanded an apology from Hooda. Another Twitter user made a tweet, asking where ‘feminist’ actors like Swara Bhasker, Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadha and others are. Reacting to the same, Richa Chadha tweeted, “It's a despicable "joke". It's crass, tasteless and sexist.” The actress made another tweet and wrote, “Yes. It's casteist too.” She added, “Also, plz explain to the reason why you continue to ask ONLY women to apologise for their male colleagues while you pontificate on sexism. Not holding my breath.” Chadha asked the user to explain why only women are asked to apologise for the actions of their male colleagues.

Meanwhile, in the tweet, the user questioned if they will speak against Hooda or stand and applaud him for his actions. The user tweeted, “Where are all the ‘feminist’ actors @ReallySwara, @konkonas, @tapaseepannu and @RichaChadha Will they speak against @RandeepHooda or stand and applause for their brother? After the outrage on social media, Randeep Hooda was removed as the Ambassador of the UN for his 2012 joke.
