Rhea Chakraborty Arrested: NCB To Produce Actress In Court Via Video Conferencing At 7:30 PM; May Not Ask For Her Remand - REPORTS

In a massive move, the Narcotics Control Bureau today arrested Rhea Chakraborty in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. The NCB came into picture after a drug angle cropped up during the investigation of the Enforcement Directorate in Sushant's death case. A few deleted chats of Rhea allegedly discussing drugs cane to fore. After three days of investigation and interrogation, the NCB arrested Rhea Chakraborty and as per the reports, she will be produced in front of the magistrate court today itself.

As per a report in India Today, Rhea will be produced in court via video conferencing. The report also suggests that the NCB is unlikely to ask for her remand as they have already interrogated her for three consecutive days. An official confirmed to the news portal, "We are not asking for remand, we have examined [Rhea Chakraborty] for 3 days." Which means she'll be probably sent to judicial custody and her lawyers can apply for bail, says the report. Rhea has supposedly maintained in front of the NCB that she procured drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput, however, she did not consume herself.

Post her arrest, Rhea Chakraborty was taken to Sion hospital for a medical examination. She has been reportedly arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau under sections 8 (c), 20 (b), 27 (a), 28 and 29 of the NDPS Act. It was a few days ago that her brother Showik Chakraborty along with Samuel Miranda was arrested and sent to NCB custody till September 9. Further details are expected to be out soon.
