Since actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh filed an FIR against his son’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, and five others accusing them of abetment of suicide, the Jalebi actress and her family has been hounded by media channels. While many Bollywood celebrities came out in support of Rhea’s media trial and how she is being portrayed, actress Swara Bhaskar compared the media trials to the Salem Witch hunt. Now, after Rhea Chakraborty’s media trail and arrest by the NCB in the actor Sushant Singh Rajput case, an excerpt from veteran actor Rekha’s autobiography of her media trail after her husband Mukesh Aggarwal’s demise goes viral.
On Facebook, a social media user shared a video and penned down her thoughts on the media trial of Rhea Chakraborty. With the raging debate after Rhea’s ‘smashing patriarchy’ tee made headlines, a social media user shared a post referring to an excerpt from veteran actor Rekha’s autobiography Rekha: The Untold Story by Yasser Usman. The except shared by the user talks about how the veteran actress was labelled as ‘witch’ or ‘black widow’ when he husband and businessman Mukesh Aggarwal died by suicide in 1990, only about a few months after their marriage. Reportedly, Aggarwal used to suffer from chronic depression but it was Rekha who was blamed for his demise.
With something similar happening to Rhea Chakraborty in the Sushant Singh Rajput's case, sharing the excerpt from Rekha’s autobiography, the social media user wrote, “The press lapped up the sensational story of Mukesh’s suicide and featured reports with outrageous headlines like ‘The Black Widow’ (Showtime, November 1990) and ‘The Macabre Truth behind Mukesh’s Suicide’ (Cine Blitz, November 1990). Delhi high society and Bombay’s film industry vociferously condemned Rekha for ‘murdering’ Mukesh Agarwal. 1990-2020 : 30 years Similar cases, similar reactions.Still asking why is smashing the patriarchy and feminism relevant?"
