We told you yesterday how Sonu Nigam was thrown out of a film after having recorded songs for it because of his bitter fight with Subhash Chandra Goel, the head honcho of Zee Media (Sonu thrown out of a film, courtesy ugly spat with Subhash Chandra Goel, December 23).
Now, we've got you the details of the fallout.
The episode happened at Amar Singh's bash to celebrate the 50th birthday of Mrs Sangeetha Seetharaman, wife of Dr R Seetharaman, CEO of Doha Bank (We know what Amar Singh did last night, April 28).
When Sonu walked in to the party, Amar introduced him to Goel. Not exactly an intro per se, but the routine exchange of pleasantries. His introduction was to the tune of how everyone knows Sonu and the singer is so popular that he barely needs an introduction.
To which, Goel said that he definitely knew of Sonu and added, "Inko Zee ne hi toh banaya hai."
And Sonu blew his lid off!
An eye-witness at the party told us, "Sonu told Goel something on the lines of: Aap toh humko ghulam hi samajhte ho. Kya hum aapke naukar hai?"
Goel was stunned that the singer had shot back at him in such a manner.
The Zee head instantly summoned for Jayantilal Gada (the founder of PEN, who acquires worldwide rights to Hindi films and sells them to Zee) who was also present at the party. A furious Goel told Gada in no uncertain terms that Sonu should be immediately blacklisted from all Zee channels.
A good 8 months have elapsed since this tu tu-main main but the tempers haven't flayed. Sonu hasn't yet apologised to Goel and clearly, Goel hasn't forgotten it either. Now that Sonu has borne the brunt of this fight, will he rethink?
