The actor will be essaying the role of Sartaj, cop in his forties who is separated from his wife.

We stumbled upon a few pictures of the actor shooting for the series. Take a look:

Sacred Games, an adaptation of Vikram Chandra's 20006 crime novel of the same name, will be produced in partnership with Phantom Films. The series also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte and Karan Wahi besides Saif.

Set in Mumbai, Sacred Games delves into the city’s intricate web of organized crime, corruption, politics and espionage that lie beneath India’s economic renaissance. It is an epic masterwork of exceptional richness and power that interweaves the lives of the privileged, the famous, the wretched and the bloodthirsty.

Talking about the project, Saif had recently told a leading tabloid, "I think web content is really powerful and that's where we all need to be. Television has a lot of restrictions. Web content, on the other hand, is devoid of any kind of censorship. It's a free environment."

He added, "I am excited about the quality and content of our show. The book was fantastic and I hope we can do justice to it. We have an amazing team. I am looking forward to starting this new venture."

As of now, the actor is busy promoting his upcoming film Chef. Yesterday, the makers released the first song Shugal Laga Le from the project. The upbeat song has been sung and composed by Raghu Dixit and written by Ankur Tiwari.
