With stars booking and locking festive and national holidays for their releases, the chance of them making an extra moolah instantly comes into picture. Just for instance, Aamir Khan picked Christmas for his massive releases, while Salman Khan went on to book Eid and Shah Rukh Khan made our Diwali more Dil wali.

On this note, let’s quickly dive into flashback and take a look at the flicks that showcased some staggering growth at the box office and created new records by introducing new CRORE clubs on Republic day or week. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat after a prolonged controversy released on January 25, 2018. Mounted on a budget of Rs. 215 crore, it grossed Rs 585 crore as per Wikipedia page. Lesser known face, it marked first movie of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh where they were not paired opposite each other.
On January 25, 2017 Rahul Dholakia’s helmed Raees has Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, totally leaving us smitten in his bootlegger avatar. Romancing one of the most talented Pakistani actresses Mahira Khan, the actor struck a perfect balance between romance and action on the silver. Raees minted Rs. 272 crore made on the budget of Rs. 127 crore.
Akshay Kumar’s Airlift entertained the audience by hitting the silver screen on January 22, 2016. Tale of an Indian businessman risking his life when Iraq invades Kuwait, to save his fellowmen, was effortlessly narrated by Raja Krishna Menon. Made with a budget of Rs. 30 crore, it entered the 200 crore club, by minting Rs. 251 crore at the box office.
Akki yet another movie which did tremendously well at the box office was spy thriller action flick, Baby. With the topic slightly unknown, this fast paced, smartly written flick provoking patriotic emotions, released on January 23, 2015. Made on budget of around Rs. 58 crore, it picked up with positive word of mouth and set the box office figures ringing by minting Rs. 142.99 crore.
Releasing on January 25, 2013, action thriller Race 2 helmed by Mustan Burmawalla- Abbas Burmawalla, marked its sequel after the super success of the first part. Grossing Rs. 162 crore at the box office, this multi-starrer was made on the budget of Rs. 70 crore.
Lastly on the list is the reboot version of the 1990 blockbuster of the same name, Agneepath. Hrithik Roshan stepping into the iconic character of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan played by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, has still remained fresh in our memories. It earned Rs. 195 crore made on the debut of Rs. 58 crore.
