In the mid-'80s, Rati Agnihotri emerged as a prominent and celebrated star in the Indian film industry, heralding a promising future. However, during the peak of her career, her trajectory took a turn when she met Mumbai-based businessman and architect, Anil Virwani, at a social event. This encounter marked a significant change in her life's course and she even took a break from acting post marriage. However, now the actress reveals that her father Roop Agnihotri died before three weeks of her wedding.
Speaking about it she said, "When he died suddenly at a young age, I was completely shattered. I knew nothing about the world outside the one that my father had built for me. My wedding was three weeks away when father left us." It was back in 2015 where Rati filed for divorce from husband Anil over domestic violence issues and stated that he used to often beat her over the course of 30 years. For staying away for two months the couple didn't file for divorce and everything between them is fine now, confirmed Tanuj Virwani in an interview with Spotboye.
Hailing from a conservative Punjabi family, Rati Agnihotri, born on December 10, 1960, commenced her modeling journey at the tender age of 10. At 16, she caught the eye of Tamil film director Bharathiraja, who offered her the debut role in "Puthiya Vaarpugal." Upon receiving permission from Rati's father, Bharathiraja cast her in the Tamil film, where despite her Punjabi roots, she garnered acclaim for her performance.
Following significant contributions in Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu cinema, Rati marked her Bollywood entry with "Ek Duuje Ke Liye" in 1981. Throughout her career spanning over four decades, Rati has consistently showcased her acting prowess, delivering versatile performances at every turn.
