Seems like the joy of the announcement of director Shankar collaboration with Ranveer Singh for the Bollywood remake of Vikram-starrer Anniyan/Aparichit, is pretty short-lived. As per reports in the media, the director has been warned by the film producer V Ravichandran to immediately stop work as the film's rights still belong to him and have the same on record. Hence, any such adaptation without his permission will be treated as illegal. The producer in his statement has also shared that he will be sending a legal notice to Shankar.
In a part of Ravichandran's letter, he shared he has bought the full rights from the writer Sujatha by paying him the entire amount. The letter read, “I am the Producer of the said movie Anniyan. The entire story rights was purchased by me from the writer Sujatha (alias late Rangarajan) for which full payment was done by me to him. As such, any such adoption or remaking or copying the main plot of the said movie, without my permission, is totally illegal.” In the letter, the producer has also shared of getting Shankar on board for Anniyan despite his past ventures being a failure at the box office.
The producer in his letter further mentioned the director has forgotten the support and is now trying to make it big with the Hindi remake of Anniyan.
